TaikaBox runs a pop-up art lab in one of the historic red granary buildings that are scattered around Oulu Market Square. THE RED HOUSE was our base for 2 months in Summer 2025, and will be throughout June/July/August 2026. It is a simple wooden structure with two rooms, each 6m x 6m.
In 2025 it was home to residencies from Orchestrating Spaces and Carina Ahlskog, and we set it up as a Connected Studio for the Mycelial Threads project with Stephanie Felber in Germany.
In 2026, we have a varied programme of exhibitions and residencies:

1.7 – 9.7: GAKU OKATA – new drawings and paintings from Oulu-based visual artist
10.7 – 24.7: VALERIA CORDARA in residence – Italian artist making and sharing
1.8 – 21.8: TINY SPACES ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE – Christianna Tsigou (Greece) and Walter Grunt (Germany)
21.8 – 30.8: TINY SPACES DEEP CONNECTIONS – Artwork from 2 years of international artists working sustainably in Varjakka, Oulu, Athens and Potsdam.
